Queer Muslim Voyagers Program

Queer Muslim Voyagers Program - Empowering Emerging Leaders in the Queer Muslim Movement

The Queer Muslim Voyagers Program is a leadership development initiative designed for emerging and established frontliners between the ages of 24-44 who are committed to advancing the queer Muslim movement across Europe and beyond. This program aims to inspire, empower, and connect queer Muslim changemakers to foster positive and lasting change in their communities and local contexts, while promoting global solidarity.

The program provides a transformative experience rooted in feminist, decolonial, and anti-racist principles. It is tailored for individuals working on the frontlines of the queer Muslim movement, as well as those with a strong aspiration to become leaders in their communities. By participating, leaders will gain the skills, tools, and networks needed to create inclusive, thriving societies where all people belong, participate, and succeed.

Program Highlights

The program spans 8-12 months and includes:

  • Preparatory Meetings: Participants will engage in deep discussions on leadership, self-care, and strategies for advancing the queer Muslim movement. These meetings provide a space to connect, reflect, and prepare for the in-person immersive week.
  • A Week-Long Immersive Experience in Cape Town, South Africa: Participants will travel to Cape Town, a city with a rich history of resistance against colonialism and apartheid. There, they will engage with prominent Muslim women scholars, visit local NGOs, and explore Cape Town’s cultural and spiritual landmarks, including Karamats (holy graves). This week will be a time for learning, reflection, and mutual support.
  • Follow-Up Meetings: After returning from South Africa, participants will reconvene to reflect on their journey, apply their learnings, and plan future collaborations.
