QMEP
QMEP
Our Queer Muslim Empowerment Program [QMEP] is a study program for queer Muslims. We offer several workshops [in the evenings and weekends] to interested participants.
After you register, you will have an intake chat with one or two of our volunteers, in which you will hear more details about the program. The program lasts 3-5 months. Workshops take place once in two or three weeks. You can meet other queer Muslims, exchange ideas and experiences, learn about sexual and gender diversity in Muslim communities/histories and enroll in our leadership program.
Welcome!
IMPORTANT!Update QMEP 2023
We ran our last QMEP in 2022. Unfortunately, we will not offer QMEP in 2023.We will focus on our new programs. Keep an eye on our website and socials for open events.

Experiences
It did me good to learn more about myself in a safe environment
Nabira
"Every meeting felt like a warm bath; I felt very comfortable. It gave me a lot of new insights. Because you are in a similar boat with the group, you feel very connected to each other.
It has had a healing effect on my soul to learn and reflect in such an intimate setting on subjects you don't think about in your daily life. For me, QMEP has been the beginning of a comprehensive process. The seed has now been planted. It now needs to grow further."
It wasn't until Maruf that I discovered my need for a community
Omar
"The process of self-acceptance can be long and hard. Being able to talk about it with peers can make it much easier. When I signed up for QMEP, I thought I had already accepted myself as queer.
At the beginning I thought I came there primarily to meet others. Gradually I discovered that I came there to be myself. Finally there was a place where you didn't have to explain anything. Most of all, I was able to make new friends thanks to Maruf."
For years I thought I couldn't be a Muslim because I was queer.
Meryem
"It's not easy for a converted Muslim woman like me, young and queer, to find people who can and want to help you with your process. For years I thought I couldn't be a Muslim because I am "like that."
After embracing faith, I was left with so many questions that I couldn't really accept any part of my identity. Maruf gave me a helping hand to understand and accept myself, a voice to be heard from, a great group of new friends, and HOPE."
